In every possible instance, we will try to explain the nature of the service or repair and give you an estimated cost before we proceed with any work on your vehicle. Some vehicles will require diagnostic testing in order to complete the estimate. If there are a number of repairs that need attention we will prioritize the repairs for you and address the most urgent repairs first.

Professional Auto Repairs Offered

Air Conditioning & Heating
We recommend having your vehicle’s heating and air conditioning system inspected every 12 months or so to ensure it is running efficiently. If your vehicle is exhibiting any of the conditions below, we recommend you have it checked right away.

• A musty smell while the air conditioning or heating is activated
• An odd sweet smell when operating the heating system
• Inadequate cooling or heating temperatures when using the air conditioning or heating system
• The vehicle’s temperature gauge indicates a “red” condition
• Steam coming from the engine compartment
• Unusual smell inside or outside the vehicle
• Strange noises when operating either the air conditioning or heating systems
• Absence of air flow when engaging the air conditioning or heating systems

Alignment

Proper wheel alignment ensures your tires wear evenly, results in a smoother ride, and keeps your car traveling in a straight line. Whether you recently had a steering or suspension component replaces, a major or minor accident, grazed a curb or are a victim of Waukesha’s potholes or railroad tracks you can count on D&D to get it back to manufacturer’s specifications. A suspension system inspection is part of the alignment procedure. This allows worn parts to be detected before they cause costly problems.

Battery Service

We recommend receiving battery inspection services once a year to extend your battery life and improve its reliability. This helps support the high demand for electrical power in the vehicle. We limit our store selection to the Interstate and AC Delco batteries for their reliability and warranty options they provide to you, our customer. In addition, not all starting problems are directly linked to the battery.  Sometimes a weak battery is a symptom of another bigger problem.

Belt Replacement

The belts in your vehicle transfer power from one component to another. For example, the serpentine belt transfers power from the crankshaft to the alternator. A squealing belt, dimming headlights while driving, loss of battery charge are indicators that a belt needs replacement. Our technicians will perform a physical inspection to check for cracking, fluid contamination, uneven rib wear, misalignment and rib separation.

BG Products And Services

Our automotive repair facility is a BG Products Authorized Dealer. This means we not only stock and sell BG products but we also have all the proper equipment and fittings to service your vehicle using these products. BG products are used in our oil changes, brake flushes, power steering flushes, transmission flushes, cooling system flushes and battery services. BG products are an excellent product when it comes to adding longevity to your vehicle.

Brake Service

Our brake inspections take approximately thirty minutes to an hour to complete. We begin first by performing a road test, checking brake pedal travel and sponginess while listening for not just the obvious grinding of the brake pads or brake shoes but other noises as well. Upon returning to the facility all fluid levels are checked. Next we will actually lift the vehicle and remove all four wheels in order to visually inspect and measure the disc pads and/or drum brake shoe lining thickness, followed by a careful inspection of the brake rotors/brake drums.

All brake lines are examined for any noticeable leaks. The calipers are also examined for reliability to ensure even wear of the new brake pad/brake shoes. The inspection in concluded with an inspection of the springs, anti-rattle clips and other often overlooked brake hardware parts.

ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System)

This system prevents the wheels of your car from locking up so you don’t lose control or skid in your car. It is a system of wheel speed sensors which apply individual brake pressure to all four wheels.

Check Engine Light

The five most common reasons your check engine light has been triggered are:

  1. O2 sensors (part of the emissions system, monitoring and helping adjust the air-fuel mixture).
  2. A loose gas cap.
  3. Catalytic converter failure.
  4. Mass air flow sensor (monitoring the amount of air mixed in the fuel injections system).
  5. Spark plug wires.

Our technicians are equipped with the proper testing tools to investigate and verify any underlying problems, including if you need to replace components.

Cooling System Service

The cooling system inside of your car is important for removing heat from the transmission and engine and dissipating it to the air outside. When the cooling system is not operating properly, it affects your car’s overall dependability and engine. We perform a range of services to keep this system in good working order including coolant flushes.

Computer Diagnostics

Computer diagnostics help us accurately diagnose problems within a car’s exhaust, engine, transmission, brakes, and other major components. It can also help us figure out why your vehicle’s performance has dropped. While computer diagnostics can help us identify where a problem is sourced, it does not tell us exactly what is wrong with your car — that’s where our technicians skills and experience come in handy! They will work to diagnose the underlying problem and get you back on the road.

Electrical Issues

When it comes to diagnostics, electrical problems are some of the toughest to identify. While many issues can develop in your vehicle’s electrical system, there are only a few issues that could cause an electrical system to totally shut down. Our technicians will work to find the source of the issue and then repair it as efficiently as possible.

Emissions Repair

Emissions Standards help reduce the amount of pollutants produced by cars. If you have a “Service Engine” light on, we can diagnose and solve the problem so you will be able to pass the State Emission Test, and keep your car environmentally friendly.

Engine Repair

Think of your car’s engine as its heart — without it, your car will not run. If you are experiencing engine problems, we will perform diagnostics and then create a repair plan. Our technicians have the expertise to tackle any engine problems you are experiencing. In addition to engine repair, we can perform tune-ups to keep your engine running as efficiently as possible.

Exhaust System

Your exhaust systems helps keep your car quiet, while also routing exhaust fumes away from the cabin. This helps you maintain fuel efficiency, help your engine run properly, and reduce pollutants. There are many signs that you may be experiencing muffler or exhaust issues including a loud rumbling sound coming from your car.

Fuel System

Fuel related car troubles? We follow methodical testing procedures and have all the necessary parts to properly check your fuel pump and other fuel related components.  Auto fuel services include but are not limited to the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injector, fuel return line, fuel pressure line and fuel rail.

Headlights And Signal Lights

If your headlights go out or any of your signal lights are no longer working this is considered a safety issue and you can be issued a citation by a police officer. Call us and we will schedule a time to replace any non-working bulbs and get you back on the road safely

Pre-purchase Vehicle Evaluation

Reduce your risk of purchasing someone else’s problems with a pre-purchase evaluation! We will help you avoid buying a lemon. We road test the vehicle to determine any potential problems with the steering or suspension systems. We will do an in-depth visual inspection of all under vehicle components, remove the tires to check the brakes, check the battery and the vehicle’s electrical system. All fluids and fluid levels are inspected. At your request a more extensive inspection of all vehicle systems can be performed.

Starting & Charging System

There are few things more frustrating than having your car take several tries to start, leaving you with the worry of becoming stranded somewhere. The starting system is responsible for rotating the engine until it can rotate on its own power. Your charging system is responsible for keeping your battery charged while you are driving it. If you are experiencing issues with either of these systems, we will work to effectively and efficiently diagnose the problem.

Spark Plugs

Spark plugs do one thing and they do it well. They ignite the fuel and air mixture in the engines cylinders to generate the power that moves the vehicle down the road. A spark plug doesn’t last forever and needs to be changed periodically. Consistent trouble in starting the car is not necessarily a problem with the battery. Spark plugs might not be generating sufficient spark and are draining the battery. Engine misfires and engine surging are signs that the spark plus may not be working properly. Changing the spark plus is a way of assuring top efficiency and engine performance.

Suspension

Your car’s suspension system supports the vehicle’s weight, keeps the ride comfortable, and keeps the wheels in contact with the road. It is important to have this system regularly checked and serviced to keep your car safe and comfortable to drive.

Timing Belt Replacement

What you might not be aware of is that if your vehicle’s timing belt if broken, your vehicle will not run and it can cost thousands of dollars in damage if it does break. Explained as simple as possible, inside your motor you have intake and exhaust valves that open and close as the piston moves up and down. The timing belt controls the valve operation, specifically the timing. Unfortunately there are no warning signs or noises which would indicate that a timing belt if about to break. Visual inspection and regular replacement will decrease your chances of a breakdown. When replacing a timing belt it is recommended that several hardware parts also be replaced.  Those parts include the tensioner, the water pump and idler pulleys.  After all, these parts have been running just as long as the timing belt and are under the same extreme conditions.
