About D&D Automotive Repair
Our auto repair facility opened in 1993 to provide customers from Waukesha, WI and surrounding areas with reliable, effective repairs and maintenance. We utilize and employ the latest automotive technology and are equipped to handle all major and minor repairs, as well as complete maintenance on all foreign and domestic vehicles.
Each member of our team is highly trained and professional. To ensure you receive the best service and repairs, they attend training on a constant basis. Each time your car is in our care, we make a conscientious effort to keep a watchful eye on existing problems and ones that may affect your vehicle’s performance in the future.

Meet Our Team
Shawn Books
Shawn Books, Owner, first started working at the shop in the summer of 1995 when he was in 5th grade helping his dad with oil changes and cleaning the shop. He worked at D&D as an apprentice while attending high school. After graduation, Shawn enrolled in the Automotive Maintenance Technician Program at WCTC and after graduation in the summer of 2006, began his full-time career. For the past several years Shawn has been involved with Automotive Training Institute learning every aspect of running a business. In January 2024 he fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning D&D Automotive Repair. Shawn is married to Kayla and they have one daughter, Harper. When he is not working in the business he is spending time with his family camping, fishing, playing golf, and relaxing by the fire.
Kayla Books
Kayla Books works behind the scenes offering support with various aspects of the business. Kayla owns her own hairdressing business and keeps busy with her daughter, Harper in her pursuit as a horsewoman.
Christopher Books
Christopher Books, ASE Certified Automotive Technician. Christopher started working full-time in January of 2009. His on-the-job training and experiences have allowed him to work confidently as an automotive technician. Christopher is an essential part of the team lending his knowledge to other team members in their daily assignments repairing customer vehicles. Christopher attends ongoing training classes to keep up to date with the changes in the automotive field. Christopher is married to Ashley and together they have three sons, Hayden, and twins Ryan and Cameron. The boys keep Christopher busy after work all year long with the various sports they are involved with.
David Books
Our founding father. David opened the doors of D&D Automotive Repair on March 29, 1993. For 30 years he worked the business and proudly passed the torch to his son, Shawn, on January 1, 2024. In retirement, he plans to spend his days at his cabin in northern Wisconsin fishing and just enjoying life.
Jeff Wierzelewski
Jeff Wierzelewski was hired in May 2022 as our Service Advisor. Jeff is here to help you solve your automotive service problems and get you back on the road as soon as possible. He is ready to answer all your automotive service questions and help you prioritize your maintenance and repairs to keep your vehicle running at its peak performance. Jeff has one teenage son, Jordan. In his free time, Jeff pursues his interest in cars and photography.
Kevin Hartenstein
Kevin Hartenstein, an Automotive Technician, came to work for us in July of 2023. He has been in the industry for 12 years. He brings a positive attitude and a consistent approach to his work every day. He is married with one daughter and two grandchildren. When not at work he can be found hunting or riding his Harley.
Angelo LaFratta
Angelo LaFratta, an Automotive Technician, was hired in July of 2023 bringing with him 24 years of experience in the automotive field. Angelo works steadily, diagnosing and repairing vehicles to keep our customers safe and their vehicles in top working condition. Angelo is married with two children and on his days off they all enjoy time fishing the lakes in our area.
Denise Books
Denise Books, the Second “D”, works behind the scenes offering support through financial record-keeping, management of customer records, advertising and marketing.
